Happy 2026!
And a wee shift
Hiya!
It’s been a minute, hasn’t it? Where were we?
Oh right. 2024.
I began the year on sub. With a shiny new manuscript complete. The world was my oyster, y’all.
What the [insert your favorite expletive here] happened, Vik?
Kind of you to ask!
Some health stuff happened. Like big stuff. Like write-your-will stuff. Like maybe someday I’ll be ready to talk about it publicly. Today is not that day.
But as my daughter deadpanned that time she said she was going to dress up as Anastasia for Halloween: I’m back, bitches!
So here we are. 2026.
My shiny old manuscript died on sub. My shiny new manuscript died a different death. My agent and I parted ways amicably.
I am healthier and stronger than ever. I’ve been able to return to my law practice with a fervor I did not think possible.
And the writing?
Well, it’s still there. Relegated to the margins. For now.
I have some big stories brewing. A new historical fiction (Cold War! Spies!) set in the same world as the Shiny Old Manuscript. A contemporary romance (F1 driver x the lawyer sent to negotiate his contract). An exploration in another different genre. And a little magical realism side quest that doesn’t quite know what it is. Yet.
And in the meantime?
Life. Travels. Books read and book club discussions. Cocktails. Culinary adventures (more on that next time). All manner of things I have a thing (or two) to say about. Thus, the mini rebrand.
Vik has notes . . .
A wee phrase born at book club (the moment comes, inevitably, when they turn to me, always after two glasses of wine . . . and just as inevitably, I have notes).
If you choose to stick around, this is what you’ll get. No big publishing news. At least not yet. Not anytime soon. Maybe never.
Just notes. Marginalia1. On life. On the written word. On the publishing process. On mixology. TBD.
You in?
If you’re not familiar with the term, I am delighted to introduce you to one of my favorite poems, “Marginalia” by Billy Collins.

Welcome back!
Definitely in. Welcome back!
